München. Nvidia seems to be unstoppable. In the latest quarter, the profit of the world's largest chip supplier rose by around two thirds. Turnover increased almost as much. And the margins are also impressing investors: 54 cents were left over from every dollar of turnover.

Almost every third dollar generated by the chip industry now goes to Nvidia. No other company is benefiting so much from the boom in artificial intelligence (AI). "Business is excellent," said CEO Jensen Huang when he presented the latest quarterly results on Wednesday. "It was exactly right that we had planned for a strong year."

The success awakens desires: Competitors are developing their own AI chips and technology - as are Nvidia's most important customers themselves. Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft want to become more independent.
