OpenAI rival Anthropic wins Allianz as a major customer

Düsseldorf. AI provider Anthropic has won one of the world's largest insurance groups, Allianz, as a customer. The two companies announced a global partnership on Friday that envisages the use of artificial intelligence in several Allianz business areas.
The deal will enable the US company to expand its business with corporate customers in Europe. As part of the partnership, models from the Claude family will be integrated into Allianz's internal AI platform. This platform is available to all employees across the Group.
The partnership comes at a time of strong growth for Anthropic. The company intends to capitalise on it: According to media reports, Anthropic is aiming to conclude a new financing round totalling around ten billion dollars.The "Wall Street Journal" first reported on this.
Alliance wants to tackle "key AI challenges"
In the course of the deal, Allianz CEO Oliver Bäte said that he wanted to "tackle key AI challenges in the insurance industry". Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei referred to the special requirements of the industry: decisions could "affect millions of people".
Allianz employees will be able to use Anthropic's AI systems for research, analyses and accessing internal knowledge bases, among other things. Software developers will also be able to use "Claude Code", for example for support with programming, troubleshooting and revising code.
