Cathryn Clüver Ashbrook is a German-American economic and political analyst and strategist, former Director and CEO of the German Council on Foreign Relations and currently Vice President at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, based in Berlin. As Senior Advisor to the Foundation’s Sustainable Market Economics Program, she spearheads the Foundation’s work on economic security and cross-sectoral resilience. For over a decade she directed three major research initiatives at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center, including the Future of Diplomacy Project and the Project on Europe and the Transatlantic Relationship, both of which she co-founded. In previous roles she served on the Management Board of the European Policy Centre (Brussels) and as a strategy consultant at Roland Berger in Shanghai, Beijing, Hamburg, and Paris.
