Florian Hager, born on April 17, 1976 in Aalen, studied audiovisual media in Stuttgart and film studies in Paris and Mainz. In the course of his career, he has worked for ZDF, 3sat and ARTE. As Head of New Media at ARTE, Florian Hager drove the further development of the linear broadcaster into a multimedia program company—which led to the creation of the ARTE Mediathek. As founding and program director for funk, he developed the young content network of ARD and ZDF. In Munich, he was deputy program director for “Das Erste” and Channel Manager of the ARD Mediathek. Florian Hager has been the Director of Hessischer Rundfunk since March 1, 2022, and additionally, the Chairman of ARD since January 1, 2025.
