Dr. Lilian Schwich is Co-CEO and Co-Founder of cylib, a next-generation battery recycling company spun out of RWTH Aachen University in 2022, where she developed the company's core recycling technology as Group Leader of the Battery Recycling research team. The company recovers critical raw materials from lithium-ion batteries and returns them to the battery supply chain at industrial scale. In 2024, cylib raised €55 million in Europe's largest Series A in battery recycling. With cylib's first industrial facility at CHEMPARK Dormagen set to begin operations, cylib is turning Europe's dependency on imported battery materials into a strategic advantage. Her pioneering work has earned prestigious recognition, including the 2025 Nicolaus August Otto Award, WirtschaftsWoche's "30 unter 2030" selection, and being named twice to Capital magazine's "40 Under 40" list.
