Sebastian Clauß

Dr. Sebastian Clauß is a defense innovator dedicated to equipping warfighters with a decisive edge by fusing high-performance platforms with agile digital solutions. As Vice President Software at STARK, he leads the strategic development of software-defined defense architectures, ensuring that mission-critical hardware is empowered by scalable, secure, and AI-ready digital ecosystems. Sebastian’s expertise is rooted in a 15-year career as an officer in the German Air Force. In 2018, he joined the Bundeswehr Cyber Innovation Hub, where he spearheaded a task force on innovative unmanned systems and Counter-UAS applications. He later directed the Hub’s startup engagement and intrapreneurship initiatives before transition to BWI, the Bundeswehr’s primary IT partner, as Head of Innovation Engagement. He holds a PhD (Dr.-Ing.) in Aerospace Engineering from the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. His research focused on task-based guidance of UAS and the feedback requirements necessary to maintain human-in-the-loop decision-making in high-stakes environments.
